CANINE HYDROTHERAPY
Swimming is appropriate for dogs for a variety of reasons, it allows the body to achieve increased mobililty in stiff or sore joints, as well as helping to build muscle mass.
While working as an aged care nurse and paramedic for 12 years, Donna noticed the benefits of hydrotherapy and natural therapies with the people she cared for and treated.
SWIMMING LESSONS
Does your dog have a panicky swimming stroke, flailing around like a headless chook, or does his bottom sink? If he kicked more steadily or had his body straight in the water, he would be a far better swimmer. This is where swimming lessons at Canine Cubby could help.
HYDROBATH
At Canine Cubby we use a dual heated tank hydro-bath allowing us to have 50 litres of heated water at a time.
DOGGY DAYCARE
Canine Cubby has 1.5 acres of land divided into four main areas
- Puppy yard
- Medium/injured yard
- Large hard player yard
- Indoor daycare
As a boxer breeder Donna has found not only does hydrotherapy and alternative therapies help humans she found a remarkable benefit to dogs.
Donna was inspired to open Canine Cubby – Activity Centre for Dogs, in Yatala, 2007 as she was unable to find a hydrotherapy centre close to home to treat her own injured boxer Leeroy, so the purpose build pool was designed.
After outgrowing the old centre, Donna relocated Canine Cubby in 2016 to it’s current location in Loganholme on 1.5 acres .
This is where Donna has built another purpose built pool, this time for her beloved Boxer Rivers, who sadly passed away before it was installed.
This 70cm deep pool was designed with a window to observe the dogs movement during water confidence education and to correct the dog’s gait whilst swimming or walking.
